Mason Jerome is a Chicagoland and Miami-based guitarist, improviser, and composer whose music explores the intersection of modern jazz, contemporary improvisation, and creative expression. Drawing from both the jazz tradition and today's evolving musical landscape, his playing is rooted in spontaneity, lyricism, and a deep commitment to musical conversation.
Despite being early in his career, Jerome has already performed at some of Chicago's premier jazz venues, including The Jazz Showcase and Winter's Jazz Club, and has appeared at internationally recognized festivals such as Summerfest and Rock in Rio Lisboa in Portugal. His performances span intimate jazz clubs to major festival stages, reflecting a versatility that continues to shape his artistic voice.
Currently, Jerome is focused on leading his own trio, featuring some of the finest young musicians in the Chicago area. The group performs a diverse collection of original music, blending modern jazz, improvisation, and contemporary influences while creating a platform for new ideas and artistic exploration. Centered around the spirit of collaboration, the project celebrates the next generation of musicians and the creativity, individuality, and innovation shaping the future of jazz.
Jerome is currently a sophomore at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, where he studies with acclaimed guitarist John Hart. As a member of the prestigious Stamps Jazz Quintet, he collaborates with some of the school's most accomplished young musicians while developing an approach to improvisation that is both rooted in tradition and forward-looking.
